Every removal starts with an on-site assessment of the tree's lean, structural condition, and what's around it — power lines, roof lines, fences, a neighbor's yard. That assessment determines whether we're taking the tree down as a whole-tree fell, sectioning it down piece by piece with a crane or rigging, or climbing it. Most residential removals around Traverse City are tight-access jobs between houses, and sectioned removal with rigging is the standard approach, not the exception.
Our crews are equipped for technical removals near structures and utility lines, using rigging points and controlled lowering to bring sections down without damage to what's underneath. For larger or more complex jobs, we bring in a crane rather than risk a less controlled takedown — it costs more, but it's the right call when the alternative is guessing.
Every removal includes full cleanup: the trunk and branches are hauled off, and the site is raked clear of debris. Stump grinding is available as an add-on if you want the stump gone too, not just the tree.

How do you remove a tree that's too close to my house to fell normally?
We section it down piece by piece using rigging to lower each cut in a controlled way, rather than letting any part of the tree fall freely. For trees in especially tight spots, we bring in a crane to lift sections out entirely. It costs more than a straightforward fell, but it's how we keep your house, fence, and your neighbor's yard untouched.
Do you handle the stump too, or just the tree?
Removal covers the tree itself; stump grinding is a separate add-on since not everyone wants it — some people leave a stump intentionally as a planter base or property marker. Just let us know when you book and we'll quote both together.
How much does tree removal cost?
It depends heavily on the tree's size, lean, proximity to structures, and whether we need a crane. A straightforward removal in an open yard runs very differently than a technical rigged removal between two houses. We'll give you a firm number after an on-site assessment — we don't quote removals over the phone.
